What About Norton?

Norton Internet Security was a pleasant surprise during the download and installation process. The 40mg file downloaded smoothly and the installation process was about the easiest I have seen. Symantec has integrated the keycode into the Internet security product so there was no need to install keycodes as they were "preinstalled".

After the installation process we went straight into the live updates and then to the system scan. This took a good hour but really, that is what you should expect for the process. This was installed and is running on a Dell Latitude, XP Pro with 512mb RAM.

Once installed Norton Internet Security is a little less friendly. Remember, I look at everything from the average user’s perspective and what they will and will not likely use. Some of the on/off functions from the components are buried in advanced settings and I would have like to have seen that easier to access. Norton seems to be attempting to become easier for the average user but I am not sure they are hitting the mark exactly. Overall the presets were nice and clean and I was comfortable with them.

Norton Internet Security comes with antivirus, anti-spyware, firewall and rootkit but lacks a parental control or spam protection. For the $69.99 price you do get coverage up to 3 computers which is a plus for home users.
