College Textbooks: Do’s and Don’ts
Like most college students, you’re finishing up your finals and are ready to break for the summer. The last thing on your mind is reading a textbook after a grueling semester or more. For many unlucky college students, they have no choice but to go to summer school to rack up those credits.
Many college students and adults who simply want to take a few classes will probably find themselves in a campus bookstore, debating whether they really need to buy that $250 book or just photocopy a friend’s version. Here are the do’s and don’ts of college textbook purchases to avoid any sticky bookstore altercations.
Do:
· Make a checklist of books you definitely need, may need, and can probably get by without. This will save you time and money.
· Buy your own copy of a book if you can afford it. It’s all too common for a friend to lose your book and you both end up losing the cash.
· Ask for used books. They’re usually in mint condition and about 25% cheaper than a brand new book.
· Find out your campus bookstore’s return policy. Some stores have week-long return policies, which can come quick!
Don’t:
· Wait until the last minute to purchase that Biology book. Sometimes bookstores run out and you may be on mail-order for half the semester.
· Go to a bookstore without proper identification and a credit card. Your bill will most likely be over $500 and most campus stores require you to show a license or ID.
· Throw your receipt away. In the event that you bought the wrong one or your professor decides three weeks into the semester that your class will forego that particular book, you’ll need your receipts.
· Limit yourself to only purchasing from your designated school bookstore. There are many online resources that allow you to compare cheap textbooks.

Drink water consistently and try to get into air-conditioning at least a few minutes every hour. Scorching temperatures can give you heat exhaustion, or worse, heat stroke. Feel dizzy or your stomach hurts? These are the warning signs of heat exhaustion. Head indoors periodically to relieve your system from the sun.

Not all paper is created equally; stationery being no exception. As societal norms in America continue to include many celebrations, rites of passage and milestones, we have reinvented the way we announce, congratulate and offer consolation. While many of us still buy conventional birthday cards and invitations, the Internet has made the process even easier for us.
Stationery has always been a creative and fun way to send a letter or memo to someone else. Many stationery sites offer custom prints letter-writers can design themselves. Giving a gift?
